Application for an Erasmus study place abroad

The application procedure consists of a few steps, which require about 10 months' advance. The good news is that the individual steps do not require much effort.

Prior to the actual application, a thorough consultation is useful by the Erasmus coordination, e.g. to the destinations or times. The optimal procedure procedure for the application is described below by the International Office of the LUH.

Step 1: to 29 January

Application to the study administration for the following winter semester or the next summer semester for a study place in the Erasmus program abroad with the following contents:

  • Short reason for your motivation
  • Proof of your language skills in the desired language
  • Current list of grades
  • Desired university
  • Possible alternative destinations

Step 2: to 05 February

Erasmus students are selected by the Erasmus coordinator and the study secretariat

If there are too few vacancies at individual universities, we try to find suitable places at other universities in consultation with the applicants. After this, the applicants will be informed by us whether they have received a place.

Step 3 to 15 March

The selected students must register online at the LUH International Office by 15 February at the latest. The form can be found on the relevant page of the International Office.

Step 4: March

Nomination of ERASMUS candidates at the partner university.

The selected students are nominated at the partner universities by the International Office, if the online application has been received before. The students will usually also be informed of the further application procedure and application periods by the partner university. In exceptional cases, they should obtain this information from the partner university, or search the internet pages of the partner university.

Step 5: Following

Application of the Erasmus candidates at the host university.

The nominated students apply independently as an Erasmus-exchange student at the partner university. Generally the official admission of the students takes place through the partner university.

Step 5: 15 July

Submission of the printed online form, the copy of the admission certificate of the host university, the declaration of mobility grants in the university office for international students for the application for financial support (about 150€ to 252€ per month, different by country categories), copy of the signed Learning Agreement between the home university and guest university, and the notice for the Ministry of Finance in duplicate.
