Research activities at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics cover modern mathematics, physics, and meteorology.

Mathematical research covers pure and applied mathematics and is engaged in numerous interdisciplinary collaborations.

Physical research covers Quantum Optics, Gravitation, low-dimensional solid state physics, Meteorology, and Radioecology.

The Physical Institutes constitute the core of the Cluster of Excellence QUEST and participate in the Cluster of Excellence REBIRTH.
