The Faculty of Mathematics and Physics was created in the year 2005 by merging the former departments of physics and mathematics into a new unit. Recent developments include the participation in the Cluster of Excellence "REBIRTH", the new Graduate Research Training Group "Analysis, Geometry, and String Theory", and, most notably, the successful establishment of the Cluster of Excellence "QUEST".
